National Grid extends consultation on major power project

National Grid has announced an extension to its statutory consultation on the proposals for the Norwich to Tilbury project.

The new deadline for feedback is now Friday, 26th July, providing an additional five weeks for public input following the Prime Minister’s announcement of a general election on 4th July.

The extension aims to give people more time to submit their comments.

The Norwich to Tilbury project is a proposal to reinforce the high voltage power network in East Anglia.

It involves connecting the existing substations at Norwich Main in Norfolk, Bramford in Suffolk, and Tilbury in Essex and integrating new offshore wind generation.

National Grid proposes to build approximately 184 kilometres of new electricity transmission reinforcement between Norwich and Tilbury.

This will consist mainly of overhead lines and pylons, with some sections of underground cables and a new 400kV substation.
