Montenegro celebrates ‘World Energy Efficiency Day’

There are many ways to promote energy efficiency, no matter where or who you are. In Montenegro, the Ministry of Capital Investments celebrated the World Day of Energy Efficiency in the ‘Big Fashion’ shopping centre in the country’s capital, Podgorica.

The representatives from the ministry used the opportunity to inform citizens about energy efficiency, the ways to rationally use energy, how and which energy efficiency measures can be applied in everyday life, as well as energy efficiency projects implemented by the Ministry of Capital Investments.

To mark the World Day of Energy Efficiency, the Ministry gave out energy-efficient LED light bulbs, which were distributed to citizens along with informative flyers and other promotional material. More than 300 LED bulbs and complete promotional materials were distributed within just a few hours, the Ministry said.

The Ministry of Capital Investments “continuously participates” in a comprehensive public campaign to promote energy efficiency and further improve citizens’ awareness, the Ministry’s press release said. Energy efficiency remains a key priority for achieving sustainable development goals and transforming the economy towards efficient use of resources, the Ministry’s press release further noted.

Montenegro was considered a “top performer” in energy efficiency in the Energy Community’s (EC) 2022 Annual Implementation Report. Last year, the country achieved the EC’s national 2020 energy efficiency target and made legislative progress in relevant areas including labelling regulations and certification of buildings.
