Krk terminal delivered over 5 bcm of natural gas to Croatia’s transport system

From the start of commercial operation in January 2021, the liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal on the Croatian island of Krk has gasified more than 8.300.000 cubic metres of LNG and shipped more than 5 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas into the transport system of Croatia.

In the same period, over 65 per cent of all quantities of natural gas that entered the transport system of the country, entered through the LNG terminal.

In the current year, 20 ships for the transport of LNG have already been shipped and 11 more are expected to arrive by the end of the gas year.

All the above proves the importance of the terminal for the natural gas market in Croatia and this part of Europe. Indeed, in June 2022, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced that Croatia would expand the LNG terminal for the country to play a more regional gas supply role. The capacity will be expanded from 2.9 bcm today to 6.1 bcm by the gas year 2024-2025.
