Czechia must increase cooperation with Azerbaijan for gas supply, Minister Síkela says
Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela underlined the importance of Azeri gas in replacing Russian supplies. Especially the Czech Republic needs to increase its cooperation with Azerbaijan and a business proposal on test deliveries is under development.
“It does not have to be only in the gas and oil supply but also, for example, green hydrogen, whose production the country wants to focus more on,” the Minister underlined. “I see Azerbaijan’s role in Europe’s energy security as essential, especially with regard to the future. Europe needs strong and reliable energy partners who are key to maintaining the stability and competitiveness of our industry.”
Minister Síkela also recalled that 10 Czech companies were involved in the construction of the recently completed railway corridor Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and the amount of investment exceeded 750 million euros. Indeed, in addition to energy, there is a lot of potential for developing further cooperation in innovation or healthcare technologies.
